The idea
Weatherline aims to make everyday forecasts accessible without proprietary API credentials or a commercial SDK. A compact local application combines forecast, air-quality and alert data in a readable browser interface.
How it works
A Go server handles source requests and serves a JavaScript interface. Open-Meteo supplies forecasts, city search and air quality; the National Weather Service supplies available US alerts. A small service worker caches the application shell.
What’s implemented
- Current conditions, hourly timeline and ten-day forecasts
- Air quality and available active US weather alerts
- City search, optional browser location and unit switching
- Offline application-shell caching
PROJECT STATUS / OPEN-DATA APPLICATION
Where it stands
Small open-data application
- Fresh weather data still depends on upstream network services
- NWS alert coverage is specific to US locations
- Cached interface assets do not establish a complete offline forecast service
