nightjar
A native network instrument for iPhone and Mac. It began as a passive BLE listening post and grew a send/serve bench, an encrypted messenger, a cryptography vault, and the Blacksite console.

The idea
Put a listening post, a protocol and recon bench, and a graded defensive posture in the operator's pocket — one instrument whose rooms share a process board, an exposure standard, and a single hash-chained night log.
How it works
Swift apps for iOS 17 and macOS 14 from one Xcode project, over a Python send/serve overlay kept from the listening-post line. The Listen room is receive-only and never connects or pairs. Send and Serve speak TCP, UDP, TLS, HTTP and BLE GATT. EMCON audits exposure and gates anything that emits. Skelli, the onboard specialist, reads live state and works the controls herself; her model inference runs on the device.
What’s implemented
- Receive-only BLE listening: sightings, a decoder bench, tracker hunt and JSONL sessions — listening never connects or pairs
- Send and Serve bench: protocol payloads and listeners over TCP, UDP, TLS, HTTP and BLE GATT, with stealth mode and canary personas
- Blacksite, the built-in console: shell, editors, protocol and security audit instruments, and the EAZY battery
- EMCON exposure audit with graded conditions that gate the emitting organs, and a hash-chained night log across all rooms
- Knocktalk encrypted messaging and a Vault of hashes, key derivation, authenticated encryption and envelopes
- Skelli: an on-device specialist who answers from live state and operates the instrument
Where it stands
Current release · v12.0
- No App Store or TestFlight listing: building from source with Xcode and your own signing is the install path
- Free Personal Team signing lasts seven days, and each device needs its own signing and trust setup
- Skelli's local minds depend on the device's hardware and memory; the Apple model requires iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence enabled
