The idea
Repeated shell work often begins with a familiar prefix. Mint Terminal Predictor uses the commands already in Bash history to suggest likely completions while keeping the suggestion separate from the command that will execute.
How it works
A small Bash layer synchronizes recent command history, ranks prefix matches by frequency and recency, and draws a dim suggestion beside the current input. Key bindings accept or cycle suggestions while leaving ordinary Tab completion available.
What’s implemented
- Local predictions from existing Bash history
- Frequency and recency ranking with configurable history limits
- Accept/cycle bindings and manual history reload
- Installer backups and a focused shell test script
PROJECT STATUS / SHELL UTILITY
Where it stands
Small local shell utility
- Initially targets Bash on Linux Mint
- Suggestions are completions, not natural-language reasoning or automatically executed commands
- History-based ranking is limited to previously recorded commands
