The idea
Evidence work depends on understanding where a file came from, how it changed hands and which records support it. CaseGrid explores a clear browser workflow for linking evidence, leads, authority records and custody history.
How it works
Browser-native Web Crypto hashes uploaded file bytes with SHA-256. The application links evidence and legal-authority records, appends hash-linked audit events and renders custody records for PDF export, keeping demo state in local storage.
What’s implemented
- Real SHA-256 file hashing for new uploads
- Case creation, evidence linking and legal-authority records
- Hash-linked audit events and custody-report previews
- Selected-record PDF export
PROJECT STATUS / BROWSER MVP
Where it stands
Browser MVP
- Authentication and roles are simulated in the browser
- Local-storage demo state is editable, with no server-backed access control or protected evidence vault
- Seeded records are demo data; hashes do not establish legal admissibility
