SIGNALS
AIRWAV
A passive RF workstation for spectrum analysis, IQ capture, replay, and evidence-based signal decoding.
- Current state
- RF prototype

- Built with
- Rust / Ratatui / rustfft / RTL-SDR / librtlsdr / SQLite / BLAKE3 / React / TypeScript
The idea
Keep measured radio energy, recorded IQ and verified protocol frames distinct so that an observation does not silently turn into an unsupported identity claim.
How it works
Receiver and DSP workers feed measured FFT spectra and signal islands into a Ratatui interface. Separate recording and decoder crates maintain a clear boundary between observed energy, captured evidence and verified protocol frames.
What’s implemented
- Hann-window FFT, spectral averaging and local-noise signal-island detection
- Bounded pre/post-trigger IQ capture, AWR journals, SQLite indexing and BLAKE3 artifact integrity
- Offline replay, AM/FM/NFM listening and WAV export
- Mode S, ACARS, APRS, POCSAG and SAME decoding with CRC, parity or header gates
- Separate browser observer for synthetic and file IQ
PROJECT STATUS / RF PROTOTYPE
Where it stands
RF observation prototype
- Physical RTL-SDR V4 and speaker acceptance remains outstanding
- Synthetic/browser observations are not live USB capture
- Not a production ATC/P25 system; no transmitter support
